Making Great Strides!

Since October 2016’s African emerging leaders gathering in Kenya, leaders from Burundi have returned to cast vision, partner with churches and begin community sports teams – CST’s that are making a great impact in local areas in and through sport for Jesus.

CST’s have been planted and people have been trained in the following areas of Burundi:
            Bujumbura
            Muyinga
            Mworo
            Rohero
            Karusi

Key concepts include youth and adult community soccer tournaments and matches, beach mission sports, health and fitness outreach and leadership development. The love of the trained leaders and the popular language of sport is proving extremely popular and attractive to many local people; thousands have attended the activities to date as a part of a process of mission with partnering churches and many lives have made commitments to Christ.

The challenge is to now mature and multiply the work in this great land. There are incredible opportunities to effectively follow-through with individuals that now want to know more of grow in their relationship with Jesus. More Bibles are needed to aid this. 

As well as going deeper with those reached, there is scope to widen the reach by partnering with new churches, planting new teams and training new leaders to do the same. As well as Bibles, the teams there require balls, and lots of them to extend soccer and other sport activities to engage with people groups in existing and different parts of the country.
